Hey guys just curious if I could beat some of you up for some info. I just picked up my 85 Iroc and want to build the motor in it (305 TPI) would like to get some extra horses up under the hood. But I have not built a motor and am new to the game so any help will be greatly appreciated. Something for me and my son to do together. I want to stick with the 305 that is in the car its the original motor (before everyone says just swap it with a 350). Trying to keep car as original as possible but with a little more power. There are alot of articles out there that start out talking about the 305 then it goes straight to a 350. It will be better and cheaper but what about the guys that just want to keep the cars as original as possible. Any help on some setups or some things that work for the 305. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Or even links to building a 305 tpi. Please no 305 bashing lol. I know you can get power out of it its a bowtie!!

pretty much anything you can do to a 350, you can do to the 305 it just wont make as much power as on the 350. Start with the basics, free up the intake, new catback exhaust, maybe some headers. There is a faq on here somewhere that covers a ton of basic lowcost stuff you can do to free up power on the TPI engine. The major limit is how much you wanna spend.
