SuperHigh RPM ? like bottom of the gauge cluster

hey guys, dunno if this is in the right section or not but

ive got a 90 iroc with 700R4 and its RPMs have me wondering if something is wrong

its idles at like 2k and if im out driving and i mash the gas the needle will hit the bottom of the gauge like where 8k would be if it continued

any input?

Does your engine sound like it's really at 2000RPM? Could be the tach is picking up noise. Are you using resistor plugs?

it does sound like its idling high, havnt had it for too long so im still getting used to the sounds of it. and i ahve no idea what resistor plugs are lol
