TPI and Painless 'Perfect' kit
TPI and Painless 'Perfect' kit
New guy here. I am working on swapping in a TPI set-up into a built 4x4 truck that has a new crate 350 (290HP/350TQ version). I know it's not a Camaro but I figured the experts here would be the best place to ask.
I am wondering if anyone has direct experience with this motor's cam and the Painless tuning software.
I have be advised that with the cam used in the motor it will be dificult to tune properly.
This is the motor:

Also who sells an intake adaptor (oval to round) that would allow me to make my own intake system. Was thinking of routing the air filter down near the passenger side grill area to allow it to get some fresh air.
Thanks and let me know if you need more spec's.

A TPI system should run just fine in the engine you posted link to. It's basically the same as later L98 TPI engines.
You might want to consider using eficonnection's OBDII upgrade on it.
The TPI memcals, etc are getting harder to come by.
Building your own intake would be a lot of work, and there's so many choices already invented. Sorta like the wheel is already around.

Re: TPI and Painless 'Perfect' kit
thats a pretty mild engine, so tuning should be no problem.
definitely go OBDII if you are starting from scratch.
its not worth it if you are putting it into a car that is already running just fine, but from the start, its definitely worth it.

What is the OBDII?
Something from here? http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonn..._pigtails.aspx
This Painless 'Perfect' system comes with a Chevy 350 tune in it already.
Some one from Affordable EFI mentioned he has had issues tuning this motor with this particular cam.
Anyone know anything about that?
My motor is stock except headers. Will be used for mild rock crawling and mountain trails.
Thanks for talking to a truck guy
