computer not adjusting to knock

I have a 86 5.0 tpi in a 1936 chevy and the computer will not adjust timing when the engine pings we have checked the knock sensor and it works and sends a signal to the esc but no change in timing my scanner shows knock as no and knock retard as 0 any ideas

Are you using the 305 knock sensor and ESC modules? The 350 uses different ones.

yes we are using the knock sensor for the 305 and esc the knock sensor has the right ohms
