Holley 255 Fuel Pump

Im installing a holley FP in place of my stock pump. Holley included all the hardware ect.. I see for the instructions in can be installed with the"pulseator" or without using the rubber hose they supply. I'm alittle worried the pump could slip out of the pulseator being it is just pushed in with no clamps... I would rather use the hose and clamps holley provided to bypass the pulseator and make a better connection.. Will this cause any problems? and what is the function of the "pulseator" it looks like the fuel just flows directly through it????? Thanks
