Evaporator case cover

Is there any way to remove the upper evaporator case cover without having to remove the accumulator? My upper case has a hole in it and I am trying to replace it but I can't seem to get the upper case off with the accumulator in the way. Chilton's says to remove the accumulator, but in order to do this I have to drain the A/C system. I'd rather not do that if I don't have to. What does Haynes say? yeah, right. It doesn't even mention it.

Re: Evaporator case cover

TTT. I need to get this thing off without discharging the A/C system. Nobody's done this?
