Hey Gang...

I've been posting in a relevant thread on the DIY Prom board and was hoping to get some ideas from the TPI side....

anyway, heres the link to the posting:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...-question.html

Here's whats going on... in datalogging, I'm getting runaway knocks like crazy, all the way up to 250+ and then resets... timing is being taken out to max of 20 degrees retarded and my performance is non-existant.

someone hit me up please!!! ...after reading my posts over there to see Xactly what's going on.

Re: Look at my KNOCK'd up L98

Well im not an expert on the subject but lets look at the facts. The ECM is counting knocks. Knocks are reported by the ESC module which "reads" the knock sensor. So we need to figure out why the ECM is counting knocks and if there legitimate or not. You could have a bad knock sensor you could wiring issues you could have a bad module you could even have noise induced into the knock sensor wire by spark plug wires triggering a false knock. The problem is these are all just guesses based on nothing really so we need to narrow it down a bit. The first thing i would try is disconnect the ESC module and emulate the everything OK signal the ESC module sends to the ECM. If the knock counts stop then we know its not the wiring to the ECM or a internal ECM problem it has to do with something before that point like the ESC module, knock sensor, wiring, ect. From there well just work out way back to the knock sensor. Also you mentioned it knocks at idle do you mean like rod knock knocks or just knocks according to your scan tool. From reading your post it seems like you have a few other problems as well and might have something to do with it.
