Timing Question

So I pulled the distributor cap and rotor off to check my pick up coil and didnt pay attention to what order the wires were in...just kinda pulled them off the cap...stupid me. After checking the pick up coil i decided to replace the cap and rotor and i did put the rotor back in its original position on the dist. shaft. My question is do i need to know where the original wires went or can i just start with the cylinder that the rotor is pointed to? The rotor is pointing towards cyl 7 (almost directly towards the wiper motor), so can i put the wire from cyl 7 on the closest post on the cap to where the rotor is pointing and just finish the firing order by going around the cap? (7,2,1,8,4,3,6,5) Or am I going to have to put the # 1 cyl to TDC and start with that wire on the cap? Some info would be much appreciated. Thanx

Re: Timing Question

Yes, if you know where it was then that's fine. No need to put it to TDC.
