TPIS Bigmouth/Runners on a 305

I have a set of TPIS runners and will be getting a bigmouth intake sometime soon. My question is would it be worth putting on my 305 or could it possibly be too much for a 305 where it would hurt driveability? Mods are in my sig.

I was going to run them on my 305. But it had ported Corvette L98 aluminum heads, headers, decent cam. I would only do it on a 305 that already had extensive breathing mods.

Do you think there would be some low end torque loss or not?

Since you have gears, a 5-speed and a decent cam in there you will not lose anything and only gain. If you had auto car with 2.73 gears and the peanut cam it would be a different story.

Re: TPIS Bigmouth/Runners on a 305

I have the AS&M runners (basically the same deal) and and edelbrock lower intake, ported upper plenum, LT4 cam , and edelbrock shortie headers. Mine dynoed in at 216 hp 261 tq. Thats a bit better than stock 350TPI. Id say do it. Mine also needs a better tune than its running. Former owner got a mail order tune for it and i just have been too lazy and poor to get into chip burning.

I only have a mail order tune also. Would I have to get my PROM re-done after the installation of the intake and runners?

Re: TPIS Bigmouth/Runners on a 305

That all depends on how the car runs with the extra airflow and what tune you have now. It might be just fine because mail order tunes are never quite right (im running a bit rich now). So when you put all those on it might actually run where it wants to...or it might run lean. It all depends. With that said if it was my car i would assume that i would need another chip burned but i would try without it to see how it runs. Is this a daily driver or a fun car? If its a daily i would not do what i just said lol. I would learn how to burn chips first.

It's my daily driver. I plan on building a 383 TPI which is why I bought these, but I just considered putting them on my motor now.

Re: TPIS Bigmouth/Runners on a 305

Since its your daily i would shy away from throwing them on just cause it might take the car down for awhile if it doesnt run right (which is more likely than not).

Anybody else on here put them on a 305? If so, what were your results?

put them on and enjoy them. u prolly wont feel the gain but itll be there.
now get out there and do it.
Oh and put in a stock 350 chip and enjoy..
yess itll work till you get a real tune.

or you could just sell them to me!

Re: TPIS Bigmouth/Runners on a 305

I put the SLP runner on my 305 and ported the top intake to match. I cant really tell a loss in low end torque. Also the car runs fine.
