Temp prom?
Hey guys. I am in the proccess of stroking my 350 to a 383 and adding an XFI 560/555 cam with afr 1041 heads & 30lb. injectors to my 87 MAF 165ECM TPI motor and was wondering if I should get someone to burn me a custom prom to use temporarily or if I should just use the stock one till I get my own stuff to burn proms? It will be probly next year before I get the stuff to burn proms so Ill be running this motor for a year. I know a guy that will burn me one and he askes for all your engine specifics and burns one according to them. But I dont know his reputation or anything. Does anyone know someone who could do a good job at burning me one or should I just use my stock one untill I get the stuff to burn my own? I wanna make shure I dont hurt my engine and im not shure if the stock prom will run it rich enough thats why Im asking
. Any and all suggestion welcome!!

Re: Temp prom?
The stock chip is going to be way off for the engine. My suggestion is to get the chip burning stuff first and learn what the different parameters do before trying to jump into DIY tuning on a brand new engine. I started with a new engine and have been working on it for two years and still don't have it done yet. The part throttle stuff is very close, but the PE needs much work yet.

Re: Temp prom?
well I thought I would get a good base program to start with from someone on here with a motor close to mine. Then just tweak from there. Im not looking for max motor potential just as long as it will snap my neck on take off and break the tires loos while rolling along at maybe 20 or 25 mph. that would make me happy if it will do that and not blow the motor in the proccess. But that is something good to think about. Maybe Ill get a megasquirt or stuff to reprogram proms first. But the heads and cam are so tempting at the very least. I could probly let the stroking go for now and do it next time but iv always wanted a motor like that and now I hav the oppertuneity to do it. But you do have a point. D.a.m.n. Ill be wondering in my head agin for a while now lol!!!!

Re: Temp prom?
Your stock prom will not even be close to working correctly. The stock prom has 22 lb injectors programmed in and you have 30 lb injectors. The stock prom will be too rich. Have a custom prom made for 30 lb injectors, if you use the stock prom except for injector constants it will be a good starting point.
