Hey all,

The starter on L98 is about to die completely, and I was looking into getting a high torque mini starter. Anyone have any experience with them?

Are they worth it? What is a good one for around that price? (less than 150)

I bought an LT1 starter off ebay.
Fit perfect and worked great.

I'm using the Summit Protorque mini starter and love it. No more slow cranking hot starts and I think it sounds better than a stock starter. I've also heard good things about the LT1 starter if you're looking to save a couple bucks.

 

Tim, just get an LT1 starter and don't look back.

 

This may be a dumb question, but what makes the LT1 starter better than the TPI/mini starter?

 

I picked up a Denso version at a local yard. Works great with only one exception. I run Hedman Longtubes and need to smack the pass side with a hammer just for a little more clearance.

 

It's GM.....more compatable.
