Problem with ECM going into PE mode
I have been trying to figure out why my ECM will not go into PE mode. RBob thought that the TPS is reading a too high of a voltage value, which then the ECM ignores and prevents the ECM from going into PE mode. With the TPS at closed throotle at 0.56V, the WOT TPS voltage is 4.41V. From RBob's reply, I set the closed throotle TPS at 0.42V, and got WOT TPS at 4.2xV. The ECM would still not go into PE mode.
Now I think that the ECM is not going into PE mode because my wide band O2 sensor is reading mid 13s to mid 14s while at WOT. This is not right. So I am trusting the O2 sensor, and therefore thinking that the ECM is not going into PE mode.
Here's an interesting thing. There is an old post about a 730 ECM (speed density) whereby the CCP function was preventing the ECM from going into PE mode. However, in looking thru TunerPro, I see no tables or constants for my 165 ECM which pertains to the CCP like the 730 ECM. Also, and this is a big also, while I was adjusting the TPS voltage, with the key ON, and the engine OFF, I could hear a whining sound from the charcoal canister. I should not hear anything with only the key on. Apparently, some function is going on with the CCP.
Has anyone else been face with this problem?

Re: Problem with ECM going into PE mode
I've seen this before with a '7730 running $A1 code. I un-hooked the battery for a few minutes, re-uploaded the code to my Ostrich and everything worked fine.
CCP function shouldn't have anything to do with PE mode, but my knowledge of tuning doesn't extend much past the 7730 and $A1. I usually disable the CCP since the engines i tune for don't have the proper vacuum port for it anyways.
Do you have a datalog you could post?

Re: Problem with ECM going into PE mode
Thank you for your reply. This weekend, i will get back onto this problem. However, I only have an AutoXray 240 for scanning purposes. I will post something this weekend. Thank you again.
