O2 sensor troubles

Ok so I just put in a new O2 sensor today and after it's in I go to test drive it. After about 10 minutes I get a check engine light so I bring it back home and do the old paper clip jump and I'm getting a code 13...on a brand new o2 sensor! The engine is also running rough at idle when I'm at a stop light now (didn't do that before) and has a wee bit of hesitation when going from a stop.

I think the next step I'm going to take is to put the old one back in. The only reason I changed it was because I suspected it of being fouled because I was running rich. It didn't look bad at all but I figured "hey I already have this new one I might as well put it in." I'm thinking the new one is defective but even if it isn't I'll return it and say it is. Changing it was such a pain in the butt though...you need that special socket with the notch out of the side and I already returned my "rental" O2 socket set to checker. Not to mention you need frickin midget hands to maneuver around in there.

So, I ask if anybody has any suggestions/advice on anything I may be unaware of.
