vortec head project

i have searched and can not find...i have a 89 formula 350 and messed one of the heads up trying to remove a broken intake bolt,got into the water jacket with a drill...dammit anyway this is a good time for some upgrades. i bought some 060 vortec heads,a edlebrock vortec tpi intake and already have the slp runners and a holley 52mm throttle body oh and a jet stageII chip, igot the intake and there is a port on there right infront of the distributor hole<not on the factory intake..wtf..> what is it and do i block it off? i am sending a picture with my paint shop arrow on it. someone please tell me something about this.i will be using my factory cam with this setup money got real tight after these buys

If you mean the tiny hole next to the distributor hold down bolt, It's a water port. All of the aftermarket TPI bases are universal for F & Y bodies. Corvettes use it, we don't. Plug it.

If you mean the large port with the flange pattern, that's for the Corvette style EGR. Vortec heads don't have the traditional EGR passages. If you intend to run an EGR, you'll connect a tube from your exhaust manifold/header to the port. If not, install a block off plate.
