Water Damage

Engine seized after getting water in engine, Took out all spark plugs and water poured out of Cyl. #8. Still does not crank over, and starter is good.

My question is, Could i have a bent valve? Also, would that cause my engine to not move at all? I dont see what could make the engine not Move AT ALL. Wont go Backwards, Wont go forwards. Something is stopping this engine from moving, Ideas?

Thanks!

Bent connecting rod. Water doesn't compress too good.

Re: Water Damage

Right, but i dont see how a bent rod can stop an engine from moving completely. I cant even spin it backwards

Re: Water Damage

Depends on how it bent... If it bent the rod sideways when it went, then yeah, you could be hosed pretty good, I would imagine you might not be able to turn it at all...

Re: Water Damage

Doesn't really matter what the cause is anyway. If it won't turn, it's time for a new engine.

Re: Water Damage

If the rod is bent you wouldn't be able to turn it over at all. I had a friend who did it to a 82 chevy 4x4 truck and tried to pull it and pop the clutch while in 4wd and it just locked all 4 tires and the engine did not move. He bent 6 out of 8 rods so you may have more than 1 rod bent.
