off-road Y pipe for 89 Formula 350 questions

Would deleting the cats trigger an error code?

Could I buy a Tubular Exhaust System for a single-cat car (which I believe comes with an off-road Y pipe) and run that?

Would I need to create some additional O2 sensor bungs?

Thanks.

No.

No, because it will not come with an off-road pipe, at least not that I am aware of.

There is only one o2 sensor.

hello. thanks for your input. check this out.

this is the Edelbrock TES that is for a 86-90 TPI car with single catalyst. it has what appears to be an off-road Y-pipe. i could be mistaken, suposing the single cat starts where the Y in the picture ends.

this one would be the TES for a dual-cat system. it lacks a discernable Y-pipe.

so, regardless of whether it is a stock dual or single cat setup, there is only one O2 sensor?

thanks again.

Those headers (and every other for our cars that I'm aware of) end just before the location of the stock catalytic converter. The idea being that you cut your catalytic converter off the existing Y pipe and clamp it on the headers.
