Re: stock valve covers with 1.6 rockers and AFR heads

I am running AFR 210's with stock valve covers and 1.6 rockers. I had to remove the oil drippers inside the covers because of the extra width of the rockers. When I was running stock 624 iron heads I had to use two valve cover gaskets on top of each other to get enough height to clear the rockers.

so is it possible that the narrow body rockers would work without modification? not too worried just curious, also what kind of lift are you seeing?

Re: stock valve covers with 1.6 rockers and AFR heads

I am running about .580 lift with 1.6 rockers (XFI 280 cam). I am not sure what will work without modification, I think (it's been a few years) I just used a set of vice-grips and bent the drippers back and forth until they came out. At the time I was using Crane Energizer rockers that are pretty wide and there was no way of putting the stock valve covers on the stock 624 heads without doing something. For vette owners you are limited in valve cover height because the windshield washer motor is in the way. To use tall valve covers you have to notch the back corner of the cover.Thats why I stay with stock covers. The AFR 210's seen to have a taller lip that allows me to use 1 gasket.
