Headers for TPI

Buying an '88 Iroc-Z soon, has the 5.0 TPI engine, manual transmission. Looking for the best bang for buck deal out there on a set of headers; most hp gain for cheapest price. Don't feel like buying $500 headers for 10HP gain, but would pay $200 for a 10HP. Any recommendations on which brand of headers will net me the greatest results would be helpful.

Re: Headers for TPI

Forget the Edelbrock TES headers, I like my Hedman shorties. They are a opertty good deal. Not the best out there but for the money they're hard to beat.

That's what I'm looking for, something that works well but is also affordable. They all claim 10-20HP gains. I've always heard long-tube produced more gains than shorties though, true or not?

Re: Headers for TPI

Yes true but long tubes are a problem when it comes to packaging and IMO only a viable option w/ a T5 because there's room to run the pipes next to the tranny.

Re: Headers for TPI

The car I'm going to get has a 5-speed transmission so it might be best to go long-tube if I'm understanding you correctly. But if long-tube headers cost ungodly I'd probably go with shorties. I like the BBK performance headers on my truck and they aren't long-tube.

Yes, get the longtubes then. There are cheap ones out there.

Good price for long tubes, and from a reputable company.
