Ticking on fuel rails/injectors? Help
Hi to all, I recently purchased a 87 formula, originally a 305 but converted to a 350, this is what I know, less then 5000 on motor and trans, 350 block bored 10 over, new gm vortec head, new aluminum manifold, mild street cam, and 22lb injectors, engine was built per an article that was estimated 325hp, 375tq, runs out awsome, blast to drive but it has a ticking noise through the tpi fuel rails, is this normal?, does have a high volume fuel pump and it is set up at 36lb of pressure, does idle nice at first and then tries to find out were its at, any info would be appreciated!
thanks much

Welcome to TGO!
...I'm not totally sure what sort of tune/program you're running, but typically the TPI's run about 42 pounds of fuel pressure from the factory, and a lot of people tweak that up a few more pounds. 36 is probably a little low, but again, obviously if you're engine isn't stock, then you may have a different tune, and I'm not gonna start claiming what's best for you! edit= ...I see you bought the car with the swap already done. I would say that chances are you're running a little low on your pressure. Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regularor? (AFPR). Assuming you do since you're at 36#'s of pressure. Stock would have you at about 42. You can try bumping that up and see if it helps your idle. Also make sure the throttle body and idle air valve are clean. Not sure how engine savvy you are, but you're in the right place!!!! Ask, search, read!!!!
....as for the ticking, that's totally normal. I'm running Ford 24 pounders and I swear you can almost hear 'em with the hood down!!!
