need help with no start on 1992 LB9

Here's some info. I'm currently working on a 1992 Z28 convertible w/LB9. It has not been started since 2004. It sat in my pole barn all that time. I don't remember there being much gas in it when I quit driving it. After changing the fluids, cap, rotor, spark plugs and plug wires. I also added some gas treatment. It rolled over fine but wouldn't start. I checked for spark at the number 1 spark plug and it was good. So I then checked the fuel pressure with my gauge and the ignition turned on. I got nothing. Since I couldn't remember how much fuel was in it (the gas gauge reads full which I know is wrong). I added about 1 1/2 gallons of new gas. I rechecked the fuel pressure. My gauge then read 30 psi. Still wont start.

If you have any suggestions please post them.

Get a noid light and put it on an injector plug and crank the engine and see if it flashes.
If not you may have a problem with your ignition module or p/u coil.

You may also want to check all the wiring under the hood to make sure no little varments got in there and chewed things up.

Re: need help with no start on 1992 LB9

I checked the fuel pressure about a dozen times tonight. Each time I released the pressure. I got a reading of zero the first time. Then readings between 20 and 30 psi. Average reading was 26 to 28 psi. I also tried not releasing the pressure. Then turning ignition off then back on. This got me a reading of 40 to 42 psi. After getting a reading of 42 psi I let it set for 20 to 30 minutes. My pressure reading dropped to 32 psi in the amount of time.

I also sprayed gas into the intake and it breafly fired up.

Tomorrow I'll go to Autozone and get the tool to check the signal to the injectors.

If you've got any other suggestions please let me know.

Thanks

put in a new fuel filter, if you haven't already, it could be gummed up with 6 year old gas and restricting fuel flow.

Re: need help with no start on 1992 LB9

Last night I replacing the fuel filter and adding some Stabil to the gas tank. This morning my initial fuel pressure reading was 44 psi. It dropped to 41 as soon as the pump shut off. Then contiued to lose pressure (about 10 psi in 20 minutes). My daughter helped me check for reason for pressure lose. Since I lost pressure when I pinched either the pressure or return fuel lines. I'm guessing an injector is leaking. Correct me if I'm wrong but the leak shouldn't stop the car from starting. If that's the case I now need to figure out what else is preventing the engine from getting any gas. If you have any ideas let me know.

I should say that I tryied to get a noid light. Since I couldn't get anything except a $45 universal one. I'll wait till I can get one shipped from an online store. Then I'll check for signal to the injectors.

10 psi in 20 minutes dosen't sound too bad, it's normal for the fuel pressure to bleed back into the tank, some cars faster than others, my 89 used to bleed it all back in about 5 minutes.
Hold a finger on an injector while someone cranks the motor, if you can feel it clicking it's getting signal.

Thanks John, I checked the signal to all of the injectors today. Everything looks good. So I'm thinking that the injectors are clogged up from the car sitting so long. I think it would be better to just replace them with some Bosch III's. Rather than try to clean them. What do you think?

ohm check the injectors. i forget the spec. but its around if you search for it. if it started with some gas poured down it, you basically isolated the problem to being a fuel problem.
