Fuel Pump will not prime
Fuel Pump will not prime
Hi everybody, 87 iroc 350 tpi. Last night I put this car on a 2 amp trickle charge overnight. The battery is only 1 year old I just don't run this car as much as I should. This morning I tried to start it and the fuel pump will not power or prime, the engine does turn over fine. I swapped the fp relay which didnt help and jumped the orange 12v wire on the relay harness to the green ,gray and orange wires, and the relay clicks on and off like normal. I also tested the ground. The 20a inline fuse by the battery is good too. Tried to test the harness at the fp over the diff. but did not get a signal. I think I had a good ground though. I also ran a hot wire from bat. to ALDL pin G and still nothing. This fuel pump is only 7 yrs old, but only has about 1500 miles on it. The car is kept in a nonheated garage, but no rodents, wires should be ok. If anybody can help me out please. Thank you.
Re: Fuel Pump will not prime
Just test the harness again above the diff. 11.75v on gray wire. 8.34v on lt blue wire. I guess this means the pump is shot. Any ideas like beating on tank to wake it up or anything else I should check? Just want to be 100% sure, no parts swapping. If anybody knows a good thread for replacing it let me know. Thank you

Re: Fuel Pump will not prime
In theory, the fuel pump should still work even if the relay is bad. There is a secondary source that is activated off the oil switch when the Oil PSI reaches a predetermined level. The engine cranks longer but will start. I agree with your assessment.
