TPI engine swap in a G-body
i have aquired a TPI engine from a friend and im goin to drop it in my ss monte carlo. question is it came with a harness and computer and the engine was running i know for a fact but there are some ends that have been removed from the ends of wires and everything looks like spaghetti to me .. can someone point me in the direction of a total plug and play harness and computer combo. also ive been searching and i run into this stuff called mega squirt, is it any good and would it benefit me. Im new to the fuel injection world, i just want to be put on the right path so any info that could be obtained i would greatly appreciate. Thank you

The megasquirt is kind of a replacement of sorts for the factory ecm and wiring. I would not call it a user friendly setup though for someone looking at a harness and calling it spaghetti. Good system, but you need to be up to speed on how things work IMO.
There are various harness manufacturers out there. Since you're putting one in a car that never came with TPI, nobody I know of makes a plug and play. Maybe EFI connection might, or someone else who wants to set up a specific harness. I used a "Painless" harness (wasnt painless) and the stock ecm and sensors. It required putting the relays in the car as opposed to under the hood on a F-body TPI, near the ecm. We put them behind the glove box, can get to them dropping the box down but not removing it. You'll need the IP harness connector, its a fairly large clear plastic connector with wires, and that will make the "Painless" harness a little easier to work with once you wire that stuff to the connector and just plug it into your car.
What year is it? Know if its MAF (Mass air flow, large 3" OD plastic housing with some screens and a 5 wire connector) or SD (speed density, has a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor three wires one vacuum line)???

Re: TPI engine swap in a G-body
he pulled the motor out of his 87 regal that was converted to the tpi years ago so i know everything is good there is just a couple of wires that have no ends and i dont know if there grounds, powers, or ignition sensed..i beleive its a mass air flow i have all the induction to it and if im not mistaken the speed density setup you are able to run the filter straight off the throttle body, in which i would like to have it that way for a cleaner look

What colors are the wires that have no ends? They may have been for things that weren't used any more like the A/C compressor clutch or the emissions stuff or a cold start injector.

Re: TPI engine swap in a G-body
there are a number of people over on MCSS that have done the TPI swap into the Monte Carlo.
the TPI swappers giude is a pretty handy book to have from what i've heard.
