Fuel pump question

Hello I own an 85 iroc z28 that has a 305 tpi and 84000 miles. I've been having problems with it. Sometimes it seems as if the car is not getting any gas. I push on the accelerator and the car starts driving VERY choppy and accelerates extremely slow. Once it reaches around 20 miles an hour it takes off like it usually would. Yesterday, however it wouldn't even reach 20 mph. I literally couldn't drive it. This usually happens after I drive it around a while then turn it off and then turn it back on.

This may or may not be related. But sometimes after I drive it around for 30 minutes or more the check engine light turns on and it idles and accelerates choppy and sometimes even turns off while I'm at a light.

I'm not an expert on cars so I'd like to know what you guys think it could be. Could it be my fuel pump? Maybe my EGR valve?

Re: Fuel pump question

I just came up with an idea. Could it be my injectors? Hasn't anyone had this problem?

Start by getting the code thats being stored. Post it up here, it may help in figuring out where the problem truly lies.

Re: Fuel pump question

Agreed, start with the information you have, and go from there. Could be something really simple. But this way you won't waste time and more importantly, MONEY, by throwing unnecessary parts at the car
