Help!!! :(

I Have an 88 GTA 5.7 350 TPI... This problem has been driving me crazy. the timing was screwed up before. so we re-did the timing. We set it at exactly top dead center, and when we cranked it to do the rest of the valves, we went to top dead center again. Now the car is running like crap! If we didn't set it to 6* Before TDC would it be enough to make the car miss, lose compression and idle like crap???

I'm going crazy and need help! cus now i'm losing compression to the brakes and Tranny. Knowing the booster is hooked to the back of the manifold and the tranny is dependant on the vacuum. I need help. Before I pull the valve covers off AGAIN, and re-set the valve lash again.

Re: Help!!! :(

Once you found zero lash, how much extra did you tighten the nut?

Titghtened it half turn. I know that the timing runs off spark controlled timing, and that im at a mile above sea level. so I heard you go 4* past the specs? If that so that means i should set it 10* BTDC? Is that right? Cus with TDC I lost vacuum. and im missing horribly

Re: Help!!! :(

What method did you use to set the lash? When setting the lash, I adjust the intake valve when the exhaust valve just starts to open and then I do the exhaust when the intake valve is about 3/4 way closed. Is that how you went about it?
