Engine not getting fuel. HELP!
Engine not getting fuel. HELP!
Hi guys, thank you all for any help on this. Sorry for making this so long but I’m trying to be specific as I need specific answers cause my camaro is my only car and my daily driver. Very important info starts with *****
(background info)
My car started acting funny in a middle of a desert highway. I seemed that it was running on 5 cylinders, it would occasionally die, sometimes it would only run under 2000 rpm and sometimes only over 3500 rpm (I had to keep it in a lower gear). Then it died completely and wouldn’t start. After an hour it would start and idle (lousy idle, like if running on 5 cylinders) but it wouldn’t run well enough to drive. Then after a while it wouldn’t even start. I towed it the next day and need some help.
(current situation)
***** The car starts and idles (fairly well, like if it fixed itself) but if I get the rpm to about 2000 it dies within 2 seconds.*****
I know the problem is with the FUEL DELIVERY and I NEED TO KNOW if anyone knows if it could be something besides the injectors (I know that at least one is ok). I’m thinking it might be not just the injectors but also the computer or maybe even some sensor because in the past my car would die all of a sudden during hot weather and then wouldn’t start for a couple of hours (I later found out the computer was getting waaayyy overheated). Since then I installed two small fans where the computer is and never had that problem again but maybe the computer got damaged.
*****Here’s how I know it’s FUEL DELIVERY and not ignition for example.
I tested the spark (connected my timing light to all wires while engine running, all have a spark even during the few moments the engine is dying). So it’s not the ignition.*****
*****When engine was idling I started spraying starter fluid. I was able to get it to run to about 4000 rpm without any problem while spraying but it would die as soon as I would stop spraying.*****
***** Injectors OHM are 17.3 volts on 5 injectors, 11.2 volts on 2 injectors and 3.0 volts on 1 injector*****
So obviously 1 injector is horribly bad and the 2 injectors reading 11.2 are pretty bad too.
***** Here’s another thing, how do I check if the computer gives the signal to the injectors? I didn’t know how to do it so I connected a small light bulb to injector connectors and both terminals of each connector would always be on. I read somewhere that only 1 of them should be on and not the other. That was not vehicle specific so do TPI ecm sends the signal differently? Is the ECM therefore bad? I mean, it does run it just doesn’t run at high rpm.
All this is making me very confused. I don’t have a lot of money to fix it, I definitely will buy new injectors but should I buy the computer too?
Also I read that Bosch 3 injectors are excellent, does anyone know where to get them and how much they are? Or where to get some very cheap ones (until I can afford bosch).
Again sorry for making this so long, any info (how to test the injector connector), or what you guys think is wrong and how to fix it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Re: Engine not getting fuel. HELP!
You can get the yellow 280-155-700 injectors from a lot of the 4.6L fords. They flow 19.1lbs at 3 bar and 21.8lbs if you step up to 4bar. You can also get the injectors from a dodge neon. They are 22.6 bs/hr @ 3bar and 25.4 @4bar. The neon injectors are black and come in 2 different lengths.
It doesn't matter if the came on a ford or dodge or GM they are still made by bosch.
They are easy to clean and test yourself. Although the services that do it for you and install the new o-rings, filter and pintel cap for you really dont charge that much for the service.

Re: Engine not getting fuel. HELP!
At #18 -$25 per injector for cleaning ,cheaper to buy the FIC units
Thats what drove me to build my own injector flowbench and get an ultrasonic cleaner. It cost me a bit to set it all up, but now I can do my own really cheap
Re: Engine not getting fuel. HELP!
Your injectors are shot.
The ford yellow injectors are just Bosch Injectors.
Yes, A bosch III solution will work well.
We have them, we sell them for the same price, we give a lifetime warrantee.
