finding parts for a '88 formula 350
I have gotten my '88 Formula 350 out of storage and am in the process of restoration now. Have noticed when looking for common motor parts via parts houses that the 1988 formula is always absent from the lists. They seem to show '87-89 firebird 350 vin 8 , and '89 and up formulas 350 vin 8s, but they don't show '88 formala 350's vin code 8. what is up with this? are the parts shown for these other seemingly same motored models usable for my '88?

I would assume there shouldn't be in issue. Some times parts places don't go as in depth with their models. As long as the part is classified usable in the motor whether TPI, TBI, etc. there shouldn't be too much of an issue.
However, if you are still unsure, perhaps you can cross-reference the part numbers. Look up a part for an '87 Firebird 350 and a '89 Formula 350 and see the part numbers match up.

thanks. I am new to this foorum stuff but I will be relying on this site alot in the future. I traded for this car about 5 years ago and put it into storage, kids, kids kids! But now it is time for daddy's toy to come to life. In recent research I have found out this is an L98 version with the WS6 package, car currently has wrong decals. Back to the topic, I just couldn't figure out why all the models and years are listed except the '88 L98's. guess cross refferencing is my only choice!

Well, 20, but probably still considered a kid compared to older members of the forum. However, I'm not one to destroy a cars integrity by putting a 6-foot spoiler and lowering it so that my exhaust drags, haha. The people here are more than helpful when it comes down to it. They've been helping me the past few days more than I could imagine, especially with switching from FWD Inline-4's to RWD V8's. My knowledge on these cars is limited, but I'm working on raising it to a considerably decent point.Nice car though, would definitely like to see some photos of it, perhaps even own it

Good to hear a younger person who doesn't want to ruin classy looks! I'm a bit older,43, and grew up with V-8's. Been out of the scene for a while but am glad to be back!! This car is a beast. Minor body work needed and then paint! after that performance work. Traded a crappy '85 blazer to a kid who wanted to build a mud runner. I deffinately got the good end of htat one, but, hey he was happy with the trade. plan to utilize this site a lot for hints and pointers. will probasbly see you around on here. later
