305 tfs heads : port them or run them out of the box
i decided to stick with the 305 and i am buying the tfs 56cc 305 aluminum heads and dont know if porting them will help alot or not.. what do you guys think ? they flow 242 out of the box.. car is a 86 iroc and combo is flat tappet cam .480 lift with 1.6 rockers.. as&m runners,ported edelbrock base and ported plenum, 2055 hooker headers with 3 inch catback etc...

Ported by who? If the porter can stay off your nice newly cut seats, I'm sure gains can be had. Dont worry about port matching unless the intake is larger than the head. The bowl and seat are where gains will be made.

Id bolt them on out of the box. IF you have someone touch them up as madmax said you need someone who really knows what they are doing. All too often they may want to impress you with their port job, what you may not realize is your runner size is increasing significantly to get there. Look for strong low-mid lifts rather than some huge peak #
Someone who really knows can pick them up in the right spots and keeping the cc size as close to stock as possible.
IMO most overport heads and butcher them in hopes of power when not so much was really needed.
