85 fuel pump stopped turning on

the fuel pump was working just fine, I attempted to find a fuel pump relay to hotwire the pump so i could adjust my fuel pressure but when i tried one of the two relays (one is long the other is square) that i have on the firewall on the drivers side there was a small spark... no fuses were blown but my fuel pump will no longer turn on

Uh oh. Are you sure it didn't blow a fuse? There is a fuse on the fuse block that goes to the fuel pump. I believe it is shared for one of the injector banks. If you blew the relay, the fuel pump should still operate and the engine should still run because there is a bypass that enables the pump to receive power not only from the relay but also through the oil pressure switch. You will not hear the pump prime when key on but you should be able to still start the engine.

If it won't fire and the fuse isn't blown, I would think It's curtains for your fuel pump.

EDIT: Just saw that you have an LT1. I'm not very familiar with these engines. Can someone post up here on what a solution might be?

Re: 85 fuel pump stopped turning on

its an lt-1 from 71 not to be confused with the lt1 from the 90's i found that it was a 20 am fuse that was a bit hidden in its own weatherpack? but i'd blown that one its working fine now... but also in my half asleep stupidity i did something worse to my headlights, they will turn on but neither one goes up or down, one is stuck up...
