400+ hp out of l98 with mods?

Would i be able to pull 400+ out of my l98 with a Weiand stealth ram, #26 injectors, cranes 2032 cam (already in car) and headers? I'm not doing heads but will this get me to or past 400?

MAybe with some nitrous. I would swap out the heads for anything, at the least go with a set of vortecs.

Can try to cam it up some on stock heads but I dont see you getting much over 300whp. Full bolt ons is 250-260whp with a stealth ram. I dont think a big cam that can fit with uncut heads will make another 40whp hard to say until you try it. Throw a CC306 in there and tune it up...see what happens

you could do it with a set of vortecs and an Lt4 hotcam but not with the 2032 cam and stock heads

Re: 400+ hp out of l98 with mods?

The stock L98s will support 350HP at the crank with extensive porting. They just dont have the material to go any bigger. Part of the problem is that the push rod passages interfere with the intake ports. You can enlarge the ports a little but only as much as the push rod tubes allow. Youre much better off to go with an improved head design like AFR or Trick Flow. They both design their heads for optimum flow and velocity. The Vortecs are decent when ported but youre pushing their limits at 400 flywheel hp.

Re: 400+ hp out of l98 with mods?

The hotcam and ported Vortecs will pull between 400 and 425 hp. There is a few crate motors that have run that setup and pull those numbers. I have also seen these motors built and pull 400 plus on the engine stand dyno. It's a good proven combo.
