Odometer reading necessary for new ECU??
Odometer reading necessary for new ECU??
A friend bought an 78 GTA Firebird with no engine, trans or ECU.
He is trying to buy a replacement ECU and the vendor who is "building a custom one" for him insists he have the odometer reading to program that into the memcal or something or it will "throw a code"
Is this true or is he blowing smoke???
Also, the odometer on the car is invisible and we cannot read the numbers.
Any help would be appreciated!!

That's what I thought!!!
This owner has NO knowledge of anything FI at all. I don't have much either, but even I know better than that. Just needed backup to show him.
