Putting a 5.7 back together
Putting a 5.7 back together
Okay, so picked up a 92 Z28 with a 5.7 in it and trying to get it running. The previous owner had started working on it, so have some questions on some things that aren't hooked up and hoping someone can help me sort things out.
In the following pictures, A and B are a component and a cut off plug that were laying in the engine bay. Where do they belong?
Plugs 1 and 2, I think I have 1 plugged in to the correct item, but where does plug 2 go to? Also have 2 hard vacuumn lines labelled 3 that need help with where they go.
Where does line 4 go to? It is just laying where I found it, but could go anywhere within reach.
On the canister, plug 5 on the top, where does it go to?
On the linkage in 6, are they switched on the bracket? They look like it would fit better if the throttle cable was inboard and the kick down was outboard.
Looks like some of the egr lines are missing on 8 and 9, any help on where those are supposed to go?
And last, on number 10, where does this plug go to? It looks like it should go somewhere on the AC compressor with the length, but I don't see a place.
Thanks for any help with any of these! If I can find a 5.7 around town I'll ask to look under the hood as well.

A- looks like the module that goes on the distributor. As far as the other stuff I haven't had a thirdgen in about 8 years so I don't remember.

A is ignition module, it's part of the distributor.
B is part of the main power harness between the battery and the starter and alternator. Someone did some cutting there.
1 = MAP
2 = EGR control solenoid, should be on the same bracket as coil, missing completely. Vac line from it is hanging loose too
3 = vacuum one way valve, one goes to the vac reservoir and the other to the heater controls.
4 = vac control line for heater control valve.
5 goes to a semi plastic hard line that goes to the TB
6 is switched indeed, the other one is for the cruise servo it goes on the little stud on the front of the linkage
8 & 9 are for the heater. 8 goes to the heater control valve or if you don't have one the delete elbow on the line off the TB. 9 goes to the KC4 oil cooler if you have one, otherwise it goes to the rad on the side tank
10 goes into the back of the AC compressor

Re: Putting a 5.7 back together
I think 10 plugs into 8. It should be the pressure switch for the A/C.
It looks like 6 should be swapped (left to right).
