Re: what type of fuel injecters do i have? pics up

they are not stock, the stock would be rochester multecs. They are 19 lb injectors made by SMP.. they are sold by summit and most auto parts stores. They work fine but do rust outside easy..

If you look closely to the design (pictures below), it is very similar to the one you posted. So due to the age of your injector and compairing to this one, it is close. Keep in mind that designs change all the time as the years go by. So your injector could be the one here ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SMP-TJ100/?rtype=10 ) on Summit.

I tried running and searching for that stamped number and I had no success. This will be a tough one to find out what it is.

Re: what type of fuel injectors do i have? pics up

go up to my post (#4) and click on the picture. There is a list of the "out of the factory" injectors as well as theyre rated flow rates. Use the picture as a guide. If any of the 305 match up, then there you go. But if the numbers dont match, then you'll know that the PO replaced them in the past. most of the time, if you get the stamped numbers off of an item, AutoZone can cross reference them. But dont get your hopes up. AZ has figured out a lot of parts for me and they also have hit dead ends too. But its a start for your product search. Summit Racing too can help. Just call and select customer service. Tell them the part number or stamped number on item and they will pull up a data base full of part numbers (OEM and aftermarket).

Hello jaygt!!

Those are not the original fuel injectors, check out www.racetronix.biz item code is 01D041X, the x is in place of the 6, they have them listed as Brands: "Racetronix", Manufactures: "Standard Motor Products" otherwise known as SMP!!

Thanks to irocuroc, he was right on the money!!

The original "Multecs" probably crapped out a long time ago!!

Re: what type of fuel injectors do i have? pics up

The item number is an SMP part, but it is a Lucas number, an O1D....is usually Lucas. From approx 2005-2009 SMP was licensed to distribute Lucas parts. Bottom line is that irocuroc is absolutely correct they are NOT Multecs.

Re: what type of fuel injectors do i have? pics up

you guys are great thats exactly it. are they ok? good injector?

well i guess i just need one set for my other 91 trans am. southbay seams to be a good company to get them from. whats the deal with the ones that say "get more hp" for less money than the bosch 111.
the green one smells rich and dies out when it warms up. about 10 minutes. then wont start. thought it was the fuel pump but now it sounds like it might be the injectors. im going to look at them tomorrow and see if they are stock.

Re: what type of fuel injectors do i have? pics up

Those are GM Multecs. But also, they can be MSD Compitition Fuel Injectors. The GM Multecs are identical in design compared to your injectors. But then Agian, the MSD also has the same design, but the colors match yours. if your really curious, then you'll have to pull of the plenum and lift the fuel rail and get on out to look for any serial or models numbers that may be stamped on the body. Thats how you will know exactly what it is, by noting the numbers that are stamped on it. Here is how I made my determination of your fuel injectors. As for the Bosch III, I got a set and I LOVE THEM!!!!!! No more hesitation when I need to jump off of the red light! Instant power!!!!

Re: what type of fuel injectors do i have? pics up

wow thanks again for the help. so they should be black? in 1991 they came from the factory with these f.i. but black?

i think the guy i bought the car off said he replaced the f.i. trying to fix an issue. well about a year later it slowly ran bad and would stall. to the point now after 10 minutes when it warms up it will not run. i will take them out and replace them anyways. i cant afford a mechanic to troubleshoot. if it doesnt take care of the problem then i guess i will change the fuel pump.

Re: what type of fuel injectors do i have? pics up

Well like I said earlier. As time goes by, items do change in appearance, demensions, style, and color. Companies try to catch your attention with looks and information that isnt really relavant. For example, lets say a brand name fuel pump claims that their fuel pump will give you gains anywhere form 10-20 hp. Although this may be true, BUT the flow rate of the fuel injectors and the Fuel Pressure Regulator will still operate at its rated potential in which you'll never feel or get that so called "10-20 hp." Back to topic at hand, they could be black, grey, or natural metal color. So you'll never know unless there is a part number stamped. But do remember that some parts dont have anything on them. So if you run into a part that doesnt have a number, then it all comes down to the guessing game. Another thing to remember is that our 3rd Gens are OLD. Hell, I think about my 86 IROC and then I think "Damb, my IROC is 25 years old." My car is only 5 years younger than me and Im starting to feel the affects of middle age.7 more months and Ill be 30. That suxs.

Re: what type of fuel injectors do i have? pics up

OOOhhhh. I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR!!!!! Sorry for yelling but you seriously need to lose your keys until you fix that leak. Unless you want you car to catch on fire, thren go ahead and drive it. You need those locks in order to keep the injectors in place. YOu have to remember that the fuel pressure is around 50 lbs. so yes, they will move down. You can find those locks online. Ive seen them before. Did you put a little bit of oil before you slipped the injectors into the rails and manifold? when you do find the locks, oil the o-rings on both ends. Install then into the rail first. then lock them. then put a little bit of oil into the seat on the manifold. Then put on the whole rail into place and gently push down to be seated in the manifold.
