Need help im out of ideas!!!
ok first off my car hasnt been running the same since i changed out the ignition module it actually hasent left the house because it doesnt run right and i was wondering if i had swapped the wires connecting the igniton module to the distributor wrong...it has the green and then a yellow wire which of the two is the P and which is the N???if i have those crossed would it cause the car to surge at startup then after 3 seconds shut off??
i can get the car to stay running if i flood it with gas afew times and it will run horrible with what i think is a manifold backfire it sounds like a large clunk in the plenum...im lost on trying to figure out the problem ive replaced almost everything there is to replace and it runs worse!!! please if theres help out there i can give you any info you may need to help me figure this out

The yellow wire you refer to is actually white. It just looks yellow from old age. The green and white wires are from the pick up coil which you should really replace with the module. You can ohm test it if you like. It shopuld read between 800-1000 ohms. If not, then replace it. Sounds like you have fueling issues.
One thing you need to look at before you go any further on the motor, is the ign key. Does it have the resistor chip? If so, yours is a VATS car and the VATS module may be the cause of your problem. The VATS module sends a fuel enable signal to the ECM commanding the ECM to activate the injector drivers. Without that signal the engine will crank and may start ofr a second but will then die.
If no VATS, then you may have a fuel pump power supply issue. Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the test port and see if fuel pressure drops off right after start up. If so, check the FP relay and oil pressure switch. You could also have one or more bad injectors. You can ohm test them to verify.

Oh, and recheck all wiring to the distributor.

You and I have the exact same problem. Start for 3 seconds, then die, if you work the throttle, then it backfires through the intake. Ground the A and B ports on the ALDL and try to start it, I bet it fires up and runs great.
