tpi cam HELP
I have a 1969 chevelle with a tpi set up from a camaro it has a holley stelth ram intake headers and 22#injectors and a 86 mass air flow computer. The engine is a late model 350 with a l79 camshaft .222 .447 and some 882 heads. I know the cam profile is all wrong but what info I have found has not helded find the proper cam to make the car run right. It does not idle well. I need a good hyd flat tappet cam. HELP!

Are you running the stock mass airflow system? If so it should be able to adjust for the larger cam. Check your timing setup, and your idle adjustment. But be aware the stock computer can only handle so much.

The HSR likes a lot more timing than the TPI - especially in the lower RPM range. To get it "right" you need to be able to burn your own chip for the timing and the fuel. When I did my HSR swap, I had to jack the base timing up to 12-degrees and add about 4psi to the "TPI" fuel pressure setting with the stock 350 chip to get the HSR to run "decent". Again, you need to burn your own chip, but it should idle and run decent with a stock 350 chip, 12-degrees base timing, around 45psi fuel pressure, with the minimal idle set at 500rpm, and the TPS set to give you 4.25v (or more if you can get it) open and 0.6 volts closed.
If the current "tune" is way off now,, you'll have to adjust the idle screw between settings,, and will more than likely need to go through the minimal idle setting procedures two or three times. I was able to get mine to idle fairly well running more overlap than your cam. So,,,, if you get the timing and minimal idle settings all working together it should idle and run "decently".
