Fan Temp Switch

I am looking for the fan temp switch that screws into the drivers side head. I can not find the correct one. All the ones that i find are to small and slide past the threads. any ideas?

if you can't find correct OEM switch
use a 1/2" to 3/8" NPT reducer to fit the smaller later model switches

or a aftermarket switch with lower fan operating temps

Re: Fan Temp Switch

Earlier heads use the "big hole" (1/2" NPT thread). Later heads use the "small hole" (3/8" NPT thread).

You know the driver's side sender runs the temp gague on the dash, right? The very similar looking sender in the passenger side head runs (one of) the fan relays.

There is just a plug on the passenger side and i thought the drivers side one on the head turned the fan on.

Re: Fan Temp Switch

Driver side head between #1 & #3 spark plugs is just the temp sender for the coolant gauge.

Pass side head between #6 and #8 spark plugs is the fan switch.

However, since all heads are identical between pass side and driver side (just turned around), the hole sizes/thread sizes are the same for either (assuming you have the same heads on each side).

Temp sender has single dark green wire to a sender with a single male 1/4inch spade terminal.

Fan switch has a single wire to the switch that has a mushroom looking connector on it.
