Hey guys I have a 87 iroc with a tpi 350 I been messing with this car trying to get it running right I tried to time it by takin the number one plug out and holding my finger over the hole and had my fried slowing turn the motor with a wrench until air starting pushing my finger got it on tdc then hooked my wires on the cap in the right order so I go to start the car and nothing I do have the est wire unplugged. I try to advance it alittle and nothing. So I then reatrded it alil and it finally started up around 16degrees retard. So I try to advance it back to zero and it starts to run good but then the motor starts knocking bad. Y is it doing this any help would be excellent.

 

If the distributor has been removed and reinstalled it may be off by one gear/tooth. Its easy to miss by one gear...I know from experience.

Any Check Engine Lights come on during your efforts?
