Build 305 or swap to 350?
I have an 88 T/A with a 305 TPI and a 700R4. The TPI setup isn't running 100% and is very moody. Some days it runs good, others it wants to stall and has a mind of its own. In CT where i live a car has to be atleast 25 years old to be exempt from emissions testing. And if i swap to a carb'd 350 it wouldn't pass emissions and i wouldn't be able to register it. Ive saved up enough money to do one of two things, Either buy the 350 now and build it up then put it in the car in 2 years, Or i could bring it to a shop and have someone get the TPI running the way it should, What should i do?

i would diagnose the problem and fix it....you might have a sensor going bad or something to that effect. the money you would spend on accquireing a good 350 could be put into the 305 and can make a pretty decent powerplant that will compete with a 350. keep in mind that the TPI manifold was designed for the 305
