96 lt1 cam dowel pin
What's up guys so If I can't trade myt1 cam for a 350 tpi cam for my 305 build ill just mske it work my question is to cut the dowel pin so I can use this cam...do I just cur it with a grinder to the correct length or how would I go about this? Thanks

You can cut it or tap it in. .30 +/- .01

Correct. Use a soft mallet of some type so as not to "mushroom" the end of the dowel. Cutting is acceptable, just a little more difficult. Either way, it needs to protrude .30" +/- .01" BTW, an LT1 cam is a popular upgrade for a 305. It has a pinch more lift and duration than an L98 cam.

Yeah I've heard that alt1 cam is a good up grade I just read about the dowel pin though I guess ill just terri to push it in some.....ikl just use a tape measure ha ha to be sure it goes In enough

A dig caliper would be the hot set up.

can this be done with the cam in the motor already and just real it til it clears the timing cover?
