NEED HELP

I'M NEW TOO THIS SITE BUT I NEED HELP WITH IDing THE MOTOR SIZE IN MY 86 TRANS AM IT WAS PREOWNED AND THE GENT TOLD ME IT WAS THE CHEVROLET ENGINE THAT THEY USED IN THE VETTES OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT THE TPI PIECE ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE WAS LONGER ON THE 350s THEN THE 305s AND I CANT FIND THE ID TAG ON THE BLOCK THE STICKER ON THE HOOD READS 305

Rear of driver side head, there will be ID numbers for the block. They are a PITA to see, might need a mirror. Also covered in gunk, so you'll need a toothbrush and brake cleaner to clean off the area. They are raised stampings, sometimes it states 5.7 or 5.0, sometimes not. The rest will be a 5-7 digit number that you can search on google - find a site for GM block ID and compare your findings there.

You didnt specify if it was the factory engine or not. If it is, check your RPO Codes and get back to the thread with a god picture of the sticker.
