fuel smell from exhaust at idle

new to 350 tpi world...learning the hard way that this motor is finniky...anyway i have an 87 iroc 350 and when i start the car out of exhaust i get a raw fuel smell when its either hot or cold........also if i idle anywhere...stoplights....bank...parking lot...im trying to figure it out...i have a new coolant temp sensor, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, msd coil. car also wont drop idle down until temp gauge gets to 200 (aftermarket gauge). im kinda stumped by it. i see alot of people saying fuel pressure regulator, but should i check anything else first? also, from a cold start cel comes on but once motor is warm light goes out....it idles fairly smooth... just seems way too rich..im lost at what sensor to look at first please help
