Passenger side breather hose

I am currently cleaning up the engine bay on my 89 Camaro 5.7. The molded hose that runs from the upper fitting on the throttle body to the passenger valve cover breather grommet was dryrotted and crumbled apart. I have gone to the parts store and tried a few different hoses, but none are working out correctly. the TB nipple is huge and the nipple on the breather elbow is significantly smaller. Does anyone know a remedy to this? I know I cannot just put in an open element breather because it "lets in unmetered air from the maf".... so what do I do.... right now i have a piece of hose thats freaking huge just shoved into the valve cover grommet..... is there a part number for the OEM formed tube??

Re: Passenger side breather hose

Mine actually has a small length of steel pipe connected to a longer steel pipe connected to a small length of rubber hose connected to the TB. But I don't see why a simple length of rubber hose won't work with the proper fitting on the valve cover.

Re: Passenger side breather hose

I ended up using just standard rubber fuel hose and routed it under the intake plenum and used a reducer adapter for the 90 at the valve cover.... really cant see much of it anymore...

Re: Passenger side breather hose

I found a pretty good explanation on the unmetered air issue but, is there a way to get around this when programming a custom chip? I'd like to delete this hose if possible.

Can't delete that hose. PCV system needs fresh air supply.

Re: Passenger side breather hose

Thanks. Thought so. I guess I'll have to find a way to make it look better.

Actually you can, just cap it off at the TB and run an aftermarket breather filter. A cheapy from vatozone works great.
