ported intake runners on stock manifold worth it?
i got a set off a scrapped 85 5.0tpi t/a just like mine and i was curious if it will bolt on a stock manifold and increase performance even without the stock manifold being ported , or am i just going to have problems? i believe its the SLP intake runners

Re: ported intake runners on stock manifold worth it?
it will bolt up... since both of you are 85 cars both slp runners and your stock runners should have the ninth injector port.... u might get a little bit of power but i dont think it will be much because even though the plenum and base are ported and opened up to flow more air its still going through the same small crappy stock intake ports of your base...your only as good as your weakest link and right now the base is your weak link... but then again you have a 305 which the tpi was designed for so it should work fine for your car.... im not sure where you powerband ends on a 305 but when i had a stock tpi on my 350 tpi it simply wouldnt rev over 4800 rpms... u need to open the base up to take full advantage of the slp runners and ported plenum.... I had the ported edelbrock/slp combo with all the good stuff and it was wasnt good enough for my 355.. So im going to the FIRST TPI intake. i just simply love the looks of tpi and i want to try to stick with it before i give up on it.... thats the tpi that should have been on 350 tpi's from the factory...
