TPI and NOS Questions.
Hi all ive had a lot of luck with this message board before and have come back again with a few questions. First ill start by telling you all what im working with. I have a 1986 Z28 with the 305 tpi motor. Ive rebuilt the top end with a set of 194 heads and put headers and 3 inch exhaust on it also the smog air pump and cat have been removed. I recently picked up a used NOS system for this motor the style that has the spray plate that bolts between the throttle body and the upper plenum. As i said it is used but it is pretty much complete minus the switches to control the solenoids and the instruction manual. I bought a book on setting up the nitrous systems and called the guys at nos to figure out the jet sizes and got a few other questions answered and i believe im ready to install it. I just want to ask from the people on here if anyone has used one of these systems and if they have had any problems with them or if there are any issues i might have to deal with. Also currently it has a stock 700r4 installed and im planing on switching it out to a 5 speed probably a t5 because i know where i can get one out of a 87 camaro. Im wondering if this transition will be able to handle the 350-375 horses im expecting to be getting with a 100 shot setup.

what do you plan on doing to that t5 to handle that added horsepower, and are you running the stock cam?

Re: TPI and NOS Questions.
Yes it is currently running the stock cam i haven't pulled the motor out of the car ive only rebuilt the top end because when i got it it had a bad head gasket so haven't changed anything but the larger heads and headers and 3 inch exhaust. Although i did upgrade the ignition system larger wires new cap and coil but that really wont make a difference to the NOS system. And as far as what i plan on doing to the t5 i was hoping i could get away with just the stock t5 but if you have any suggestions on modifications it will need to handle the added horsepower id love to hear them. Ive never worked with a t5 before so any advice would help. In the past i have always went with a 4 speed but with gas prices at 4 something a gallon im expecting that the added gas mileage from a 5 sped will probably pay for itself eventually.

well the only reason i ask about the cam is that i cant see you reaching your goal of 350 or 375 with just the addons you mentioned unless your talking about at the flywheel. As for the transmission you may want to check the drivetrain and transmission threads about the t5 from what ive seen and heard they cant handle a lot of power stock. Ive heard of people running 350+hp with them and the not having problems so i guess how you plan on using that power applies as well, although if you can save for a t56 (93-97 camaro) that will handle what your tryin to throw at it.

if you can add some more bolt on power you can get all little hp outta that 100 shot.
