Re: 1989 gta 383 help

Lots of things to start looking at.
Fuel psi. 43psi
If the injs are stock multecs ohm test them cold and hot. (my guess on your prob)
pull plugs make sure they are ok.
check plug wires 4 signs of burns or arc ing.
If plugs and things are ok do a compresion test.
You can also check the rocker arms for correct adjustment.
soooo many things to check but bottom line is its really not much diff than a reg carbed motor..
start with the basics and do yourself a favor, get a factory service manual waaay better than guessing the problem over the net! good luck with your project!

Really sounds like injectors. I just had the exact same issues and that was the problem for me. Start there.

The motor will start and run on a factory tune with close to stock inj sizes.
Start by checking your injs..

Re: 1989 gta 383 help

I second or third on injectors. They are not bad to take out as long as you are careful with the O-rings. You may have a place locally to test them. A node light may also be able to help test the injectors.

Yup true story.
I have a 11.7-1comp 4xx ci sbc under 235 afrs an a solid roller cam. I have 4,000 miles on it... 24# injs and a handfull of runs 2 8k, not wot tho..
All this with........... stock 89 350 tune in the chip!
Yes I need to/will tune it... as soon as my bud is done using the 60#injs I have 4 it.. ps im sure the plugs are cleeeeeeeean!
Def not the correct way to do things but Im sure he'll be fine until he figures out the prob.
