Replacing valve seals and springs, best replacements?
Hey guys, I'm wanting to replace the worn out valve springs and seals on my 91 L98 car and I was wondering what were the best "stock" replacements? I'm probably getting a set of 1.6 rockers to pep it up a slight bit while I'm at it. So which kind do you guys recommend?

You can buy whats called an umbrella type seal, if you are having a blue puff of smoke when you start it (which is common on these because of the crappy seals and worn valve guides) these umbrella seals work awesome. It helps shield oil from runnin down the valve into the combustion chamber. I put these on my car and no more smoke, eventually you need to fix the actual problem, which would be bad valve guides but, it will last a while...did it for a guy and hes been runnin it like that for 10 years! Any aftermarket valve spring will do, comp cams or something of the like, especially if you plan on doin a lil cam upgrade.

CompCams 981 are supposed to be a direct replacement for a stock L98
Got mine at Summit with locks and retainers for $135 shipped to my door.

I use only Fel-Pro but GM makes good stuf too
if your heads got over 90k on them I would take them to a head shop and check for cracks.
The head shop will replace seals and the springs too, the one near me I can bring parts in to them or just let them use what they know works....
My last valve job cost 275$ all new everything and 3 angle valve job.
I am not sure but if replacing springs and rocker arms you probably have heads off of car so your gonna need a real spring compressor.
Make sure to take care of your injectors and fuel lines if they get dirty you will scratch your head for a month trying to pinpoint the problem.
also new springs will replenish lost performance but will add more resistance to valve train thus I would replace the T-Chain too.
Use all new bolts and hit the threads in the block with correct tap and you should be good
also check the water passages on your intake now is the time to replace it or have it welded if need.
