tuning procedures

Hello everyone,

I have a 92 5.7 TPI car and I'm trying to fine tune some issues out.

First, this is what I've done and why:

I had some ohm issues with the injectors so I replaced them with Bosch III injectors to stock recommendations. This made the greatest difference in the cars performance.

EGR code- replaced the egr valve

Map Code- replaced the map sensor and connector. This was probably the connection as the SES would come on and the car would suddenly miss going over rough surfaces, such as rail road tracks.

Idle miss. Replaced and set the TPS sonsor to .54-4.7. Replaced the connector on the iac valve and set minimum idle (by ear)

I still have a miss at idle. When I come to a stop, at second or two after, I can hear the engine RPMs lower substantially and then the engine will miss one or two times and USUALLY level out. Occasionally it will stall, as well as going into reverse, but starts right back up. The miss is commonly described on this board...accompanied with a split second failure of the brake booster which causes a slight lurch forward in the car as it occurs. I'm trying to rectify that.

This is what I'd like your advice on:

I want to check the timing. Can any one describe the EXACT procedure?

I want to set the minimum idle but am not sure how to measure RPMs without a working tach. I have an Actron tester and it describes checking RPMs utilizing the positive side of the coil and grounding, however, I'm not sure which side is positive and negative, and how you would go about connecting the tester to it with the car running. Also, is this procedure done with the car at operating temp or not.

I'm not certain the iac valve is funtioning appropriately or not. Is there any definative way to check this? I don't have a lap top. I'm open to replacing it, but there are several available on the market. Does anyone have a recommendation?

The car has no codes displaying at this time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.....Ken
