was wondering if anyone knew if the stock 89 5.7l tpi firebirds came with vortec heads?

ands is 202 hi flo oil heads r better? or does the vortec heads preform better?

 

i think vortec started around 96'

 

They definitely did NOT come with Vortecs. 202 heads simply have 2.02" valves, and aren't necessarily good. If you know exactly what heads they are, how they flow, and how you're planning to use them, then you wouldn't be asking us. Since you don't, the Vortecs are a much better choice.

 

hmmm ok, soooo does anyone know the stock heads r on a 89 firebird 350 tpi? the reason i asking this is because i going carb, and my air gap intake (from 202 heads) doesnt fit due to the center bolts.

 

Just drill the 4 holes out to suit the different bolt angle and use a thick washer under the bolt head. ( there are aftermarket angled spacers available if you want to do it properly )

Many aftermarket intakes like the HSR come with a wide hole on the center 4 holes to suit both head styles
