Question About Fuel Injectors

So im online looking for some new fuel injectors for my 88 firebird gta 305 auto. Every auto part store here in portland oregon sell them for about $60 bucks a piece, thats $480 for a set of 8. Now ive been looking around on these forms and i find southbayfuelinjectors.com
Now there selling the bosch III for $160 for a set of 8 and yellow tops for $135 for a set of 8
I'm not sure if im reading the pricing wrong or what not but why are they so cheap, and are these fuel injectors good, what exactly do i need?
Any info would help Thank You

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

About 15 years ago, I was quoted $90/injector at the local Chevy dealer. That's over $700 for the stock Multec injectors.

Southbay Fuel Injectors are the real deal. Many many people here run them. The yellow top injectors that are slightly cheaper are probably the Bosch II design. The Bosch III injectors are the ones you want for your car. They have a better spray pattern than the original Multec injectors had. Better driveability and performance. Possibly a slightly better fuel economy.

The general consensus is 19 lb injectors for 305 cars and 22 lb injectors for 350 cars.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

Hey Reid, thanks for the thumbs up, much appreciated!

Tylerf, you are correct about our prices. Our injectors are reman's, we clean and flow test them on our own benches, and they come with a 3 year warranty. The reason that they are inexpensive is that is an EXTREMELY tough world out there for many people, there is no reason to "rape" everyone with inflated prices, therefore we try to remain as reasonable as possible. Gusess what, if you think that the prices are "cheap", all tgo members receive 10% off all of our injectors by using promo code tg11

The original multecs are "junk". They are extremely prone to coil failure. The bosch gen ll (yellow tops 19lb) or the bosch lll's are very reliable and efficient injectors.
As far as sizing is concerned 19's are for the 305 and 22's are for the 350's.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

Last month, I bought/installed a set of bosch III 22lb from southbay - they are working great - Thanks!

It took me a while to figure out why the car was not starting with a normal higher idle, then come down to the correct warm idle...Not the injectors fault. I assumed I had made all kinds of mistakes.

It turned out to be the TPS connector was intermittent - not making good contact inside the TPS itself.
Once that was solved - it's now better than before the swap.

You will notice that the bosch III tick noticeably more than the multecs, but I believe this is their normal characteristic.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

I will be ordering a set of the 19 lb bosch III from SouthBay Fuel Injectors for my 91 Camaro Z-28 after finally narrowing down my car's hot no start and rough running issue, to 6 of the 8 injectors having failed.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

I was doing some straightening up of my tool box and Camaro parts I have over my in-laws and found that I still have the original 19 lb injectors that were on my brother-in-laws '86 IROC-Z 305 TPI. They were swapped out when we upgraded the motor to a 350 TPI. Sad thing is they all 8 tested out to be between 16.1 and 16.3 ohm's. On the bright side though that definitely confirms that 6 of the 8 in my car are bad, so out they go when the 19 lb bosch III show up from SouthBay Fuel Injectors that I ordered. I just can't wait to get her up and running, I've been dealing with this problem for a long time.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

Yeah, if I were going to reuse them I would definitely get them flow tested, but I already ordered the 19 lb bosch III set and why go with old when you can get the bosch for such a good deal from SouthBay.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

I received my injectors yesterday in the mail. Of course now after two days of rain, we got snow last night to top it all off. I'm not looking forward to working outside in the cold, but I want my car fixed.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

I put the injectors in yesterday and my Camaro is back. She run's great!!! After dealing with the rough running and no start after hot for about a year now, it feels so good to get behind the wheel and not have to worry about any problems. Thank you God, SouthBay Fuel Injectors, thirdgen.org, and the ever constant patience of my wife.

Hearing about results such as this is what makes us happy.

By the way, from a female's point of view, take your wife out for a nice dinner or be sure to get her a special Christmas present!

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

Our injectors are NOT cheap. The reason why they are less expensive than an auto parts store is because they are remanufactured. Yes they are "good"! We sell tons of them!
You do not need to do anything but install them. And yes, they come with a 3 year warranty.
If you have any questions about our products, why don't you just give us a call?

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

The rebuilt injectors they sell you will be cheaper and better than any new replacements because they are tested and matched by real injector experts.

Not just mpi injectors either, Just had them service my tbi truck injectors, not only are they better than new now, they even give you the test results from before service so you can see if your diagnosis of bad injectors was correct.
I'm not going anywhere else for injectors!
Thanks southbay!

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

Wow. I'm sure glad I came across this. Although this thread hasn't had traffic in a while, I looked up South Bay Injectors and they cost a hell of a lot less than the crap injectors I got that were $100 more than what I paid.

I installed a set of the grey Bosch III injectors from South Bay & they were fantastic!

South Bay was easy to work with and quick to ship - will buy from them again.

Re: Question About Fuel Injectors

I finally had time to throw in those injectors, and the have a little more torque than before! I got the "2.8/3.1 V6 Upgrade" injectors, and they were 3 lb/hr more than the crap I took out! overall, SFI was fantastic! I will definitely go back to them if I can.
