Plenum - EGR "delete"?
I just finished porting my plenum and gasket matching them to the larger gaskets for AS&M runners, looks good. EGR is deleted, has anyone else on here filled the holes with silicone or JB Weld? Seems like a good idea, why let air have a place to go that just hits a wall eventually. The AS&M runners have a similar concept, they are filled with silicone in the transfer tube for the cold start injector side. I just cleaned the plenum with Super Clean, not perfect in the EGR passage but once dried, I think good enough for silicone or JB Weld to stick. Worst case if it ever got loose it "should" only go to the EGR port in the intake, which is blocked off and not connected to anything else.

I never use jb weld or silicone in the egr feed tube. A block off plate works fine I also delete the egr error in programing.

I just custom made plates to block it off at the head where it meets the intake manifold. I wanted to stop the exhaust from heating the intake manifold.

I can't picture where the head meets the intake manifold for the EGR...hmm. My EGR was blocked off with a plate I got on eBay years ago. I'm sure there isn't a huge difference but when doing all the busy work to port the plenum, I thought leaving two holes for air to go down and get blocked anyway isn't a positive thing. I ended up putting as much silicone (permatex black) as I could shove down the holes. Put a little pressure on them tonight, seems sturdy. Will sand off the excess as it was somewhat messy. Might as well leave that entire passage clear and air can go freely to the motor itself, me thinks. I don't expect to ever use this plenum should I need to go back to EGR

Its the port on the center of each of the heads and the intake. Its what feeds the EGR valve.
On a smallblock chevy from front to bach or back to front there is a
coolant passage,
intake port,
intake port,
egr port,
intake port,
intake port,
coolant passage.

Ahh...I'm running Vortec heads (on both cars)...been staring at that intake too long and almost forgot that isn't how other heads use EGR. On the Vortec/TPI SDPC intake there is another block off plate for the crossover tube, where it is supposed to mount. So it's never been connected to my heads or exhaust.
