327 TPI?

Any thoughts on tossing a TPI on a 327? I have the chance to pick up a "cheap" '85 305/700R4 combo so the intake would bolt right up although the injectors would be a touch small. Easy enough to change injectors though.

Of course I'd do the "normal" porting of the intake/runners & throttle body before bolting it all on.

And a custom tune never hurts any engine, just not sure how well it would run with stock programming to start with.

Re: 327 TPI?

sounds like a cool build , for your questoin I have no idea, but If the motor and trans will be out you could make it look hella pretty and add a hello kitty sticker to it.

What cam, heads on the 327, most guys I know with 327 build it to rev high since they dont make as much tq and 350-383 and if thats your plan a tpi may not be for you but if your trying to make some extra tq by using a ltr then I would love to see the results so I'm subscribing.

Don't recall which cam, but it is "healthy", drinks gas like nobodies business & the idle is, well....Barely there.

Dunno if it is solid or hydraulic, but either way I'm pretty sure it needs to be swapped for a more EFI-friendly one.

Trans only has 10k on the rebuild & since the TH400 behind the 327 is blown, it needs a new tranny anyways so this would make for a good temporary replacement until the 400 is rebuilt.

It would be a cruiser not a racer, so torque building would be a good thing. If I wanted RPMs, I'd go for a 302. It would be going into a truck anyways & while not exactly a tow truck, the extra torque could come in handy when needed.

Re: 327 TPI?

.. Sounds like need to grab some TPI 350" injectors from the recycle yard... a Jegs 200102 (204/214) or 200103 (214/224) hydraulic flat cam/lifters kit ($89.95) would work well... drop down to Z28 level valve springs ($26) if it has too stiff ones... good roller cams also available if it has been converted to roller lifters... like a ZZ3/ZZ4/ZZ385 (208/221) takeout roller cam...

.. If you could measure the current cam's lift we could prolly figure out about what it is... without having to remove it...

.. Biggest problem is prolly lack of proper accessory mounting holes in ends of 327" heads...

It won't be in a 3rd gen so I would just keep the accessories it currently has, on there.

I think a TPI327 1968 C10 would make a nice tow rig for my GTA.
